If you post your bullets, I'll put them on stick :-)

Hey all,
I am not sure if we can access the net from the classroom. If you'd like, I'll compile your bullet points tonight or early tomorrow, and bring them to class on a memory stick for the class viewing pleasure.

Here's the rough draft from group 4:

I. Intro

A. Current trends in satisfaction in hospitals: patients and hospital employees.
B. Our question. We asked whether hospitals with better measures of satisfaction and outcomes could be linked to CEOs with formal medical training.
C. History of Hospital CEOs: Changes in characteristics over time and why.
1. 1994 Bluestein Physician Executive Survey
2. Bluestein Survey and Reasons for Job Transition
D. Major challenges facing the physician transitioning to physician executive.

Intro section introducing the question

Below is a portion of the intro where we ask the question. Please post comments at your leisure.

B. Our question. Based on these statistics from multiple resources on patient and hospital employee satisfaction and performance, we sought to determine possible causes of poor performance of US hospitals. We, as a group of Indiana University medical students enrolled in the course “Leadership in Medicine,” sought to establish whether management of hospitals correlated with patient and employee satisfaction and better performance. We specifically examined the backgrounds of current CEOs and asked whether hospitals with better measures of satisfaction and outcomes could be linked to CEOs with formal medical training.

Trends

Hey gang,

I'm posting to the file share site one of the key articles for my section of the current trends in physician executives.

Curriculum

Hey Group -

I just tried sending my bullet points to you, but my e-mail account froze! I'm going to post them on the file-share site (title: Goodrich Bullet Points) so you can get to them that way. I'll try again via e-mail later!

Curriculum

I posted some files on the new site...I know some of you wanted the one with detailed info on the centers/their host universities, so that is there. There's also one that is kind of a list of what IU offers elective wise (I think it is intersting that only 2 of them are available to 3rd years). Also on that one is some info about the American Medical Student Association's annual leadership summit...being held this year at U of MI.

File Sharing

So after repeated efforts with google groups, I gave up and now have a Yahoo groups page available to upload files for the group. My suggestion is to post the files and then jot an entry on the blog if you think another group could benefit from your articles. Thanks and sorry for the delay. SB

Curriculum

Sounds complicated - thanks so much for setting this up!!
Curriculum change group - I have compiled a bunch of info on the IUSM campuses. If we decide to go with the "Center of Leadership" approach, it will come in handy. If not....I guess I just spent a bunch of time learning about the centers :)
See you all tomorrow!

AHA website

Hi All,

The American Hospital Association website is a wealth of resources! Wow! They give everything from quick stats that we could draw from to a lengthy history of hospital administration. In addition they give a ton of followup resources if we want to do further reading. It's serendipity for team 4!

Kellie,
I think that looks great! Love the outlines--can't live without them! Dan, Milena, any thoughts?

Great resources!

Great resources, Steve. I think these in addition to the ones we brought to class will make a great intro.

Here's what I was thinking...and please change add delete at will

I. Intro
A. Discuss current hospital costs, dissatisfaction of employees, turnover rate/burnout rate jobs, and state of the state of hospitals currently
B. Our goal: to identify ways to improve hospitals to improve the above stats
C. Our question: do doctors make better hospital CEOs?

II. History of Hospital CEOs

Welcome to the Neighborhood!

OK gang, here it is; my feeble attempt at creating a blog. I've got the settings established so that only the four of us can read and edit the blog. Happy Posting and we'll be in touch
